Intu Lakeside shopping centre food court

Intu Lakeside shopping centre forms one of the largest shopping areas in a single location within Europe, with almost 2,600,000 square feet (240,000 m2) of retail space on a site of 200 acres (0.81 km2). The project of redesigning the large centrally located foodcourt was won by Rawls & Co Ltd, award winning retail design agency. Working closely with Rawls and the client, Working Environments helped specificy, trial and supply the loose furniture package. The large project included covers for 600+ customers over a number of zones with a different specification of furniture in each. Products were sourced from a number of manufacturers including, Vitra, Sancal, Feek with tables being supplied with bespoke wood and corian tops.

Eight months after completion the client, Intu and designer Rawls were awarded the BCSC gold award in the Catering and Leisure destination category. The category aimed at developers and asset managers looking to showcase examples of innovative, catering and leisure projects that reflect exemplars of how the hospitality industry is reshaping the overall customer experience.
